Broadland Guarding Services has been lobbying through its trade association, the BSIA, for the regulation of the Private Security Industry for a number of years.
The Private Security Industry Act received Royal Assent on the 11th May 2001. This legislation resulted in the formation of a regulating body for the security industry, known as The Security Industry Authority (SIA), which in turn is charged with regulating and raising standards within the industry. The Company is totally supportive of this legislation and has cooperated with the SIA on a number of committees in developing the training and qualifications required by security guards and PSS CCTV operators under the SIA's licensing programmes.
In early 2006 the Company was one of the first in the security industry to apply for and be granted SIA Approved Contractor's status under a special 'Fast Track' process. A requirement of the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) is that this 'Fast Track' status is only granted for a year and must be confirmed by independent inspection before the 12 months expires. As a result of this, in December 2006 Broadland Guarding Services was inspected by 'Insight Certification Limited' on behalf of the SIA and achieved the standard required for confirmed ACS Status when providing Security Guarding, Key Holding and Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) services. |
